Home About Me

Welcome

I created this website so that I could reference the projects that I've completed while at USF. I wanted people to be able to find my work and download it in a PDF format to truly see the kind of work that I've accomplished. I already had a baseball blog and LinkedIn but now I have a single place to direct to those websites and provide links to my projects. I created this website using HTML and CSS, which I was taught while at USF.

About Me

I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in May 2020. My degree was in Business Administration, which I picked because it allowed me to take classes in multiple things I was interested in (business, of course, and a specialization in sport management and electives in information systems). Eventually, it became clearer to me that I wanted to become a data analyst and I added minors in statistics and information systems managment, both of which I fell in love with. My interest in working with data actually originated with my love for baseball, where the revolution of big data and new-age analytics (called sabermetrics) is inescapable for a new baseball fan. Pretty soon I realized that all data analysis can be fun, although my love for baseball will always stay with me. In 2019, I interned for ten weeks for a health insurance company, Healthfirst, based in New York. I was located at their call center in Lake Mary, Florida, working as a workforce management analyst. The internship was a great way to get professional experience making collaborative quantiative decisions. While at UF, I was part of the executive board for a student club called Gator Sport Management Organization, and ultimately ended up as president by my final year.

After graduating from UF, I decided to continue school. I wanted a quantitative degree, instead of just my two minors, and I wanted to strengthen the skills that I began learning at UF while learning new things as well. I was a big fan of the curriculum offered at the University of South Florida and saw that classes would be offered online, which allowed me to stay remote in Jacksonville during the pandemic. I was sold. Since starting, I've strengthened my programming skills in C# and R, data analysis in R, visualization skills in Tableau, and database skills for relational and dimensional databases in SQL. I've learned lots of new things as well, like Python, SAS, Microsoft Power BI, Machine Learning, and web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. New statistical methods that I've learned include poisson regression (quasi-poisson, negative binomial, zero-inflated, hurdle), logistic regression, time-series data, multi-level/panel modeling, and survival analysis. With my final semester coming up in the fall of 2021, I'm now seeking an internship to complete during that semester.

In my free time, I'm always watching sports. I watch as much baseball, football, and basketball as I can and I root for the New York Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. While I love basketball and football, it cannot be overstated how much love baseball; the game, the history, the yearly fantasy league I'm in, and everything about it. I'm also really passionate about hip hop music, old and new alike, enough so that I even made a podcast with a friend.
