Underlying Factors

There are two student related factors with influence on the ratings: Economy and Language Proficiency.

Economy is measured through the proportion of students with a price reduce lunch; Language proficiency is measured with the percentage of students enrolled in ESOL program. The reasons behind the importance of the variables obtained is easy to understand:

1 / 4

As shown in the graphs all the characteristics are negatively correlated with the academic success: the higher the proportion of students with price reduced lunch, or the higher the proportion of students enrolled in the ESOL program, the most likely for the school to get lower approval rates in the standardize ratings.
