Zecharia Sitchin has claimed that his extensive studies of Mesopotamian texts and archaeological evidence has convinced him that aliens colonized the earth. He is fluent in ancient Sumerian and Hebrew, as well as numerous in other ancient languages, and Sitchin uses this expertise to examine clay tablets written in cuneiform. He also uses his understanding of Mesopotamian history to analyze and interpret the art work left on thousands of cylander seals and clay tablets. This evidence shows that aliens "seeded" proto-humans ~4,000 years ago.

Ignoring the work of countless Mesopotamian Studies Archaeologists and other experts in this field of research, Sitchin has decided that his understanding of cuneiform (as well as countless other ancient languages) has enabled him to have a better understanding of the ancient past. With no background in astronomy, physics, anthropology or history, Sitchin claims that his work is ignored because mainstream scientists do not want to accept that everything they have believed about evolution is untrue (Bramley 1990; Pye 2000).
