Daniel is currently working on the design of inhibitors of enzymes essential for the biosynthesis of polyamines.
Working with Wesley H. Brooks at Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute on a Virtual Counter Screening system where small molecules are docked against a library of proteins to find new targets, test promiscuity, and estimate metabolism and toxicity. Daniel is interested in methods of measuring binding affinity after structural modification or addition of a cofactor to an enzyme as well as finding more accurate means of measuring the affinity of drug-like molecules or synthetic peptides to disrupt protein-protein interactions.
