Library Resources Accessing Databases and Search strategies These pages are designed to help you understand the kind of information you will find in each database. When you are finished with this site you will be able to find books, journal articles and a wealth of other information. All of this available at your fingertips from the library, from home or anywhere your Wi-fi takes you. Let's begin with some terms that are common for all databases. Boolean Logic: the use of the logical operators and/or/not to narrow your search. Just for fun . Using this technique on the internet or in the databases will give you shorter lists to browse. To learn more explore the tutorial at Lincoln Christian College & Seminary. Use one or any combination of the following Keyword Search: any word(s), anywhere in the text, title, subject or author. Traditionally searching is done by Title, Author, and/or Subject. You choose what will work best in a given situation. Author: specific author, editor, composer, or organization Title: word(s) at the beginning of a title Subject: choose a subject or consult the Library of Congress subject headings
