SUMMARY

I have consistently performed under pressure, specializing in teaching, coaching and mentoring soldiers to accomplish the most difficult wartime and peacetime missions. I am a very effective leader and manager. My emphasis on leveraging technology has enabled me to outperform my peers, earning numerous accolades and accommodations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•  Project Management: Throughout my career, I have managed many large projects, including the maintenance of a tactical network, readiness, training, and deployment of 200 soldiers and equipment to a combat zone, and developing data requirements at the strategic level as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

•  Written Communication: My command of the written language has consistently set me apart from my peers. My proficiency was demonstrated recently when I took the GMAT and GRE, scoring in the 95th and 97th percentile on the analytical writing (respectively).

•  Self-Starter: During the past three years, I have completed over 250 computer based training classes, specializing in technology classes, including Java, Oracle and Microsoft. During this time, I have also earned a Master's Degree in Information Technology Management during my off duty time, despite frequent demands placed on me supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

US Army ( Iraq Multi-National Force, CJTF-7), Baghdad , Iraq and Combined Forces Land Coalition Command, 3rd Army, Kuwait

Theater Data Planner / Information Assurance Officer, 2003 to 2004

As a member of the strategic headquarters at Victory Base, Iraq, responsible for coordinating with higher and lower commands to ensure seamless network connectivity through Tier 0 gateways in order to access strategic network services (DISN, DRSN, JWICS, Imagery) and extend similar services down to the operational and tactical level. Developed data packages for remote sites to receive Tier 1 and Tier 2 level services. As the information assurance officer, I assisted in the determination of the impacts of risks, vulnerabilities and threats will have on the operational mission and ensuring all IMNF networks are certified and accredited in accordance with regulatory guidance. As the Network Officer for the Combined Forces Land Component Command at Camp Doha , Kuwait , I was responsible for maintenance and accountability of the Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) Network and the data storage of its 4200 users. I furthered the development of several web applications using Active Server Pages technologies and Visual Basic including the Information Management Officer Network and local CFLCC intranet. I managed systems development and utilization of 25 servers, a 650 GB Storage Area Network, Exchange Messaging Services and Video Teleconferencing. I was responsible for over $5 Million worth of network equipment, and managed 14 civilian contractors

 

US Army (3/363 Training Support Battalion), Los Alamitos , CA
Operations Officer, 2001 - 2003

As the operations officer for a training support battalion, I was responsible for the teaching, training and coaching of the soldiers who prepare over 250 U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard units for their wartime and peacetime missions, including mobilization of units directly supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, I was the network system administrator, information assurance officer and information management officer for a Local Area Network consisting of 70 computers and 120 users.

US Army (A Company, 2-37 Armor), Friedberg , Germany and Skopje , Macedonia|
Tank Company Commander and Operations Officer, 1998 - 2001

As a company commander for a forward deployed tank company in United States Army Europe, I taught and trained 200 soldiers to execute a wartime mission during Operation Joint Guardian in Macedonia and Kosovo. I was responsible for their health, welfare, and security, as well as the protection of the main logistics base in the Balkans. In Macedonia , I was responsible for over $40 million worth of equipment, including 14 M1A1 Abrams tanks. My evaluation declared that I was "one of the top Company Commanders in United States Army Europe". My achievements earned me a Meritorious Service Ribbon (The 3rd highest peacetime award) and 2 Army Commendation Medals. As the Operations Officer for a forward deployed tank battalion, I was responsible for the planning, executing and assessments of a 600 soldier Battalion. I received a commendation for my technologically advanced, interactive, after action review for the tank platoon qualification table. I planned for the preparation, deployment and execution of wartime training for over 600 soldiers and 200 vehicles, substantially improving the readiness of the Battalion.

US Army (1/11 Armored Cavalry Regiment), Fort Irwin , California
Platoon Leader, 1994 - 1998

As a tank and scout platoon leader at the world's largest military training center, my mission was to train and teach the combat brigades and battalions in the United States Army. I personally taught my soldiers the skills required to execute the most difficult of missions, and received over 25 commendations in 3 1/2 years; including an award presented to the top company grade officer in the Regiment (over 400 officers were qualified for the award).

MILITARY SUMMARY

My military career has been characterized by direct involvement with teaching, mentoring and managing hundreds of combat arms soldiers and civilian contractors. I have consistently been rated as the top officer in my unit, due to my leadership abilities and my ability to continue my education.

GPA: 3.0, Major GPA: 3.1. I was selected to the elite Seminole Torchbearers Leadership organization, in which only 200 of the 28,000 students are admitted each year. I earned recognition on the Dean's list for each of my last 3 semesters work. Due to my leadership and ability to teach cadets, I was selected as the ROTC Cadet Battalion Commander.

GPA: 4.0. I completed my masters American Intercontinental University in February, 2003, combining a traditional classroom approach in Los Angeles with completion in the online campus.

Ph.D., Instructional Technology

I am currently earning a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at the University of South Florida. My focus is going to be on researching uses of Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) and Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) in military applications.
